MAE M was raised in Feldkirchen, a small town in Carinthia, Austria. Her parents exposed her to classical music from an early age and encouraged her interests in the arts through recorder, guitar, and violin lessons. In primary school she sang in the school choir, winning multiple regional awards, and participated in the schools’ musicals in leading roles. When she was 8 years old, she bought her first album, The Best Damn Thing by Avril Lavigne, which got her into pop music.

MAE M recalls singing all throughout middle- and high school, but it wasn’t until her six-month stay in Los Angeles in 2014 that being a musician became a viable career choice. Since then, her focus shifted from being just a singer to writing and composing her own music. She produced her first single in 2015 with local producer MAPH and performed it live at “Bloody Wonderland” 2016, but ultimately never released the track.

After graduating from high school and moving to Vienna, MAE M studied Songwriting at the Vienna Conservatory – later Prayner Conservatory.  During her time at the Conservatory she wrote, composed, and performed multiple songs live, the Donauinselfest being among the venues. Through her studies she met her close friend, porducer and mentor Maximilian Stöger, with whom she has been working since 2019.
